The Great Ass Exhibition– a photography exhibition in the library

”Love yourself and respect your body, no matter what your ass or body looks like.”

The premise of the Great Ass Exhibition is the sanctity of all asses, regardless of size, composition, age or story.

The travelling photo exhibition, as well as the PERSE book created during the PerSe project, is an ass-filling of the one-sided ass catalogue and distorted body images that can lead to shame, envy, self-reproach, regret, eating disorders, fitness obsession or some other form of self-torture.

The Great Ass Exhibition features 17 ass panels and as many ass stories, in which ordinary Finns who have exposed their asses reflect on their relationship with their bodies, their asses, nudity or anything else they felt worth telling.

The Great Ass Exhibition in Kemijärvi Library is the eighth ass exhibition in a row.
Previously, the exhibition has been held in Mikkeli, Kangasniemi, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Salla and twice in Tampere.
The exhibition has been a great success with the public. In Salla, as in Kemijärvi, the exhibition came about through the libraries’ own initiative.

The Perse book is also available for sale at the library, with only mobile payment to the author’s account (mobile pay).

The exhibition is on display in the library for the time being.

Guest author Tuija Kauppinen: Joutilaita kilometrejä – cycling across South America
Mon 3.6. from 17:00

Tuija Kauppinen and her husband cycled almost 18 000 kilometres around South America. The book Joutilaita kilometrejä – bicycling through South America (Kirjapaja 2024) is the result of an adventure that lasted more than a year.

This is an entertaining and thought-provoking travel book that looks at South America from a bicycle perspective. It’s an inspiring read for anyone interested in pushing themselves and making their dreams come true. For anyone planning their own bike trip, it offers useful information and practical tips.

Tuija Kauppinen is an experienced cycling traveller and a freelance journalist specialising in hiking in Rovaniemi. Tuija is not so much interested in gear and bike fancying as she is in the world around her behind the bar and what it does between her own ears.

The event will last about an hour and the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and buy the book signed (€25 cash or MobilePay).

The event is organised together with Kemijärvi Ladu.
